Margaret River to Denmark
At Margaret River and nearby Yallingup you can also join local and international surfers as they pit their skills against awesome world class waves, then browse local art and craft galleries, explore limestone caves, sample local gourmet produce and feast your eyes on idyllic coastal scenery. Driving still further south is the rugged spectacle of Cape Leeuwin where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet. Nearby Augusta lies high on the slopes of the Hardy Inlet overlooking the mouth of the Blackwood River and is a popular destination for relaxed family holidays.
Travel inland and the delights of tall timber country await you. You can drive or bushwalk through forests of karri trees taller than a 20 storey office tower, carpeted with breathtaking wildflowers in the springtime. Manjimup marks the gateway to tall timber country, while further south the pretty town of Pemberton offers numerous scenic karri forest drives. Here you can also see an impressve array of woodcrafts for sale, sample the produce of the local wineries and fish for rainbow trout in streams and dams. Nearby Walpole on the south coast is surrounded by the lush tingle forests and wildflowers of Walpole Nornalup National Park and spectacular coastal scenery.
Another popular holiday town on the south coast is Denmark on the banks of the Denmark River. William Bay National Park has beautiful white beaches and impressive rocky scenery, while local surf beaches are popular for water sports and fishermen can be confident of reeling in a good catch.
