Apollo Bay
More spectacular sights await you at every twist and turn in the Great Ocean Road, and that experience continues as you make your way from Lorne to Apollo Bay. The sealed ribbon of highway takes you through some of the prettiest coastal villages you are likely to see anywhere. Wye River, Kennett River and Skenes Creek nestle between the ocean and the forest, each with a different personality to explore. There's also some breathtaking lookouts, including Cape Patton, that provide panoramic coastal views.
When you reach Apollo Bay you'll find a charming holiday resort, fishing and farming village situated on the edge of a wide, crescent-shaped beach, with the Otway Ranges in the background. The local fishing fleet is moored in the bay, protected by a sweeping breakwater. A short drive from the township will take you to Marriner's Lookout where the rewards are unsurpassed views of the Otways and the ocean.
Apollo Bay is an ideal base from which to go inland and explore the many natural wonders of the mighty Otway Ranges.
