Wineries

WineriesThe Grampians winemakers invite you to taste their range of wines and enjoy the beauty of the region. Vines were first planted in 1860 and the Grampians has now become one of Australia's most historical and highly acclaimed wine making regions. For over a century, the region has had unbroken records of recognition, show medals and world acclaim.

Each winery is quite diverse, with a charm of its own. The wines reflect the individual vineyard's soil type, microclimate and topography from cascading slopes to meandering creek flats. The pioneer wineries of the region, Bests and Seppelt, with their hand dug cellars and drives, are joined by new generation wineries, namely, the Boroka, Donovan, Garden Gully and the Kimbarra Vineyards, just to name a few.

The Victorian Pyrenees are dotted with charming vineyards presenting a wide variety of European culture such as Chateau Remy with its French influences and Warrenmang with its distinctly Italian character. Side by side with these are the good old Aussie wines such as Mountain Creek and Summerfield. Agricultural statistics show that in 1892 there were a total of 92 vinegrowers in the Grampians district with 1,885 acres under vine. This growth continues today.

So, why not bask in a hot spa overlooking a vineyard while sipping a sparkling wine and soak up the beauty of the surrounding scenery or enjoy some delicious local cuisine with an accompanying wine exclusive to the region. Lush vines, fine wines, gourmet food and exciting places to stay with broad vistas of the unspoiled Australian bush as a backdrop, create an atmosphere which can only be described as magic, all available within two hours drive from Melbourne.
