Showcasing more than 350 different species, Sydney Taronga Zoo is home to native Australian wildlife and a diverse collection of exotic species.

Sydney Taronga Zoo was officially opened on October 7th, 1916. Since then the zoo has conducted 33 conservation breeding programs, 11 recovery programs, 10 in situ conservation partnerships and is involved in a further 10 major research programs for conservation. The zoo is a not-for-profit organization and continues to maintain proud international reputations for animal care and conservation.

Sydney Taronga Zoo's expansive Great Southern Oceans exhibit is now OPEN to the public and it provides an important and thrilling introduction to Australia's marine wildlife. The new 1.2 hectare exhibit features Australian sea lions, Australian fur seals, New Zealand fur seals, Californian sea lions, leopard seals, penguins and pelicans living in unique displays, emulating their natural habitats and offering spectacular viewing for visitors.
