Fabulous Beaches

Fabulous BeachesMackay's Northern beaches host a string of holiday resorts on kilometres of glorious coastline opening up to embrace the Coral Sea. The natural north is renowned for its vast expanse of beaches, all within easy access of Mackay. Most are fringed with palm trees and have picnic areas and accommodation close by. The Harbour Beach is a favourite with locals and Illawong Far and Iluka Town Beach have excellent views of Flat and Round Top Islands and Dalrymple Bay.

North of Mackay, Blacks Beach is a long secluded stretch of beach - perfect for those who wish to escape the crowds and spend a day beachcombing. Here, it is also common to see the great tracks of a female loggerhead turtle coming ashore to lay her brood of eggs. Absolute beach frontage accommodation and tropical landscaped gardens where you can watch the Pacific roll in ... you'll return to Black's Beach time and time again.

Bucasia Beach also offers kilometre after kilometre of secluded beaches, a safe swimming enclosure and views to Dolphin Heads and the islands. From Shoal Point Beach you can see the islands, Cape Hillsborough and the Hibiscus Coast, which has an array of beaches within easy access of the Bruce Highway.

Try your hand at hang-gliding, wind-surfing or abseiling ... visit the Bucasia Gardens and Gift Shop or spend a day ambling through the shops and eateries at Mount Pleasant Shopping Centre ... watch the spectacular cane fires in the sugar fields or take a picnic lunch and amble through the national parks ... Mackay's northern beaches are a natural!

Choose any of Mackay's holiday resorts or caravan parks on the beachfront and you'll find a peace and tranquility rarely found in the Australian landscape.
