Lady Elliot Island
The Lady Elliot Island experience is more than just wildlife and environmental appreciation, it's also about discovery and adventure. To ensure the preservation of, not only the pristine live coral and marine life around the island but to maintain the balance with nature, Marine Park Authority guidelines allows a maximum of 140 people on the island at any one time. This also ensures a true escape for those lucky enough to visit this piece of paradise.
Lady Elliot offers a nature wonderland. During the nesting months from October to March, more than 40,000 birds find refuge on Elliot's shores. Turtle also call the island and surrounding reef, home. Much to the delight of island visitors, the beatiful reptiles lumber on to the beach to nest from October to February, with the hatchlings emerging from January to March. From July to mid-October, off shore from the island, there is whale watching with a difference. Aerial Whale Watch flights circle 1,000ft above whale pods and out over the coral lagoons of Lady Elliot Island - an attractive bonus for eager whale watchers who suffer sea sickness.
There are five types of accommodation at the fully integrated resort - guests can choose from Tent Cabins with amenities nearby or Reef Units or Island Suites which have private facilties.
