East & West of Brisbane
To the east of Brisbane are the beautiful bay-side suburbs of the Redland Shire, with their charming village atmosphere and weekend markets. The area offers beaches, islands, scenic farmlands and magnificent 120 year old Moreton Bay Fig trees. Moreton Bay is home to some 300 islands including St Helena Island which was once a jail for Queensland's hardest criminals.
To the west of Brisbane, explore the fruit and vegetable fields of Gatton and the towns and villages of the early pioneers. Take in the stunning scenery as expansive lakes creep up to the edge of the D'Aguilar Ranges. The Lockyer Valley is a popular area for self-drive scenic tours.
