Attractions in the Katherine area, Northern TerritoryFormed millions of years ago and still growing today, the Cutta Cutta Caves are fascinating limestone rock formations which are about 15 metres below the earth's surface. The landscape surrounding the Caves is unique and there are two interesting short walks in the area. The Cutta Cutta Caves are open to the public and both are home to a variety of wildlife including the Brown Tree Snake and rare Orange Horseshoe Bat.

Edith Falls are part of Nitmiluk National Park and feature a series of waterfalls on the edge of the Arnhem Land escarpment. They run all year and end in a large pool, fringed with pandanus. A loop walk takes visitors up to the top falls and across the river.

The Flora River Nature Park comprises some 25km of the Flora River that has outstanding natural and cultural features and values. A spring fed water source highlights this and tufa dams create waterfalls, punchbowls and cascades along its length. The Park offers a secluded recreational experince to visitors.

Over the past few years, fossicking has become very popular and short term licenses are available at the Katherine Visitor Information Centre. Katherine also features a number of interesting art galleries which include local and Aboriginal art and several interesting murals by local and interstate artists are featured throughout the town.

Other attractions near Katherine include the Brigalow Farms Dairy; a nine hole golf course; natural hot springs; the Katherine Low Level Nature Park; the Katherine River; Katherine Museum; Katherine Orchid Nursery; Katherine Heritage Trail; Knotts Crossing; NT Rare Rocks; O'Keefe House; the Overland Telegraph Pylons; Pioneer Path; Railway Station Museum; RAAF Base Tindall; School of the Air; Springvale Homestead and a large swimming pool with kiosk.
