Kosciusko National Park

Kosciusko National ParkThe famous Kosciusko National Park is renowned for its massive peaks, vast wilderness areas, wide variety of flora and fauna and stunning landscape which features glacial lakes and alpine meadows. The 690,000 hectare park boasts the country's highest mountain peak, Mt Kosciusko which soars to a height of 2,228 metres above sea level. Originally reserved in 1944 as the Kosciusko State Park, it was proclaimed a national park in 1967.

Located in the heart of the Snowy Mountains, the Kosciusko National Park boasts numerous natural wonders including the Yarrangobilly Caves, the naturally heated thermal pool near the caves, a massive wilderness area, waterfalls and a unique alpine flora. Walking trails and chair lifts provide ready access to the wondrous sights of the park and other activities are also available including horse riding, canoeing, skiing, mountain climbing and white water rafting.
