The Illawarra region of New South Wales stretches from the highlands to the sea. Between the highlands and the sea is the geological wonder of the Illawarra Escarpment. You can drive the mountains or travel on board the historic scenic railway known as The Cockatoo Run. The line meanders up the escarpment through pristine rainforests unveiling views from the historic Kiama to Sydney's Royal National Park, through the pretty highland farmland of Robertson and along spectacular inclines. The Illawarra is the total holiday experience - getting here is easy, finding a reason to leave will be a different story!
