Welcome to the Great Lakes area of the Holiday CoastThe Great Lakes occupies the southernmost part of the Holiday Coast Region, beginning at Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest, only about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Sydney, 100 kms north to Forster and Tuncurry and the magnificent hinterland west to Stroud and the Famous Barrington Tops. Vast expanses of picturesque lakes, unpolluted, uncrowded, never-ending stretches of surfing beaches, over 1,000 square kilometres of National Parks, seven State Forests, and a natural ecosystem with literally billions of exotic plants and wild life combine to promise you everything you could ever wish for in a holiday.

Each area has its own individual charm and attractions, and together they combine to provide all the ingredients for a memorable holiday, no matter what your interest or what time of the year. Nearly one million visitors come to Great Lakes each year for recreation and relaxation in an uncluttered, natural environment.
