Bellingen, Taylor's Arms
In the 1830s, Bellingen was literally a backwater known as Boat Harbour where timber was shipped to the mouth of the Bellinger River. Today, Bellingen is a pretty village rich in history and is an area of alternative lifestyles, farmers and artisans. The Old Butter Factory, Woodcraft Gallery and annual Jazz Festival are just three of the many features of the town which is situated on the banks of the picturesque Bellinger River. Another popular attraction is the Bellingen Community Markets held every third Saturday of each month which offers a huge array of items for sale.
Taylor's Arms foremost attraction is The Pub With No Beer made famous by world renowned country singers Slim Dusty and Gordon Parsons. Every year in May, the Trek to the Pub With No Beer from Macksville is held and the world renowned egg-throwing championships are a highlight of this unique Australian event.
