Nambucca Heads

Nambucca HeadsNambucca is a quaint and tidy coastal town. In the town centre see dolphins, an octopus and fish emerging from the concrete waves of what may by the longest sculpture in Australia, the Nambucca Mural. Drive from the town centre through Gordon Park Rainforest to the foreshores where the Nambucca River meets the sea. The breakwater provides large, open spaces for small boating, sailboarding, canoeing and safe swimming. The Copenhagen Mill and Shipyard foreshore walk offer a glimpse into Nambucca's interesting past. The logs that were placed to support the keels of ships as they were being built more than a hundred years ago can still be seen here.

At the foreshore is a caravan park, pub, restaurants and kiosk. A nature walk takes you to the top of the headland and rewards you with magnificent views of the foreshore, beaches and village. The Headland Historical Museum has a comprehensive collection of photographs, documents and artefacts relating to early settlement. The Nambucca Heads Golf Club is the only golf club in Australia completely surrounded by water.

The interesting history, unspoilt natural beauty and the availability of accommodation to suit all needs makes this an ideal area to explore.
