Things To Do

1. Trip to Lady Musgrave. Experience the Great Barrier Reef in all of its glory. This full day trip gives you a full 5 hours to experience the outer reef at its best. Activities include guided island walk, glass bottom boat trip, snorkelling, fish feeding and reef fishing. If you have not seen the Great Barrier Reef before then this is a must do! 2. Full day trip aboard the larc. Is it a bus Is it a boat Its both. Its the LARC! A light amphibious vessel which travels up isolated beaches to the remote Bustard Head Lighthouse. Enjoy a unique experience with plenty of environmental and historical commentary as well as plenty of fun along the way. Have you been sand boarding before If not this is the perfect trip to try it out. 3. Sunset kayak paddle. What better way to watch the sunset over the water than be on the water yourself, enjoying the peace and tranquillity of 1770 inlet by Kayak Enjoy wine and nibbles and make some new friends for only $30 p.p. 4. Walk along the Red Rock Walking trail The Red Rock walking trail is a very scenic 6km walk along isolated rugged coastline taking in some breath taking scenery. This is just one of many good walks around the area. Please ask reception for more details of this and many other walks. 5. Learn to surf. Where better to try something new than at Australias most northern surf beach. Prices for Surf school: 1 Student private session $55.00 2 Students $33.00 each 3 Students $22.00 each 4 Students $16.50 each Already know how to surf but didnt bring a board Thats ok they hire surf and bodyboards. Hire boards between 9.30am 4.30pm. Surf boards cost $15 2 hrs, $20 4 hrs & $30 7hrs. Bodyboards $10 half day and $15 full day. 6. Catch the sunset from the headland at 1770 Watch the sunset go down over the water at the 1770 headland. Reception can give all the best locations to view the sunset from as well as the many sunset tour options. 7. Explore the national parks either side of the town. Agnes Water is surrounded by pristine national parks. These offer some great opportunities for bush walking and 4 wheel driving. Just to the north of Agnes Water you will find Eurimbula national park. Here you will find a 4 wheel drive track that takes you through open grazing country, pockets of rainforest and onto isolated beaches. Similarly to the south of Agnes Water you will find Deep Water National Park which has sandy beaches, diverse coastal lowland vegetation and the catchment of near pristine Deepwater Creek, one of the Queenslands few remaining undisturbed coastal freshwater streams. The beaches in this national park are a nesting ground for loggerhead, flatback and green turtles. The track through the National Park requires a 4 wheel drive but if you do not have your own ask reception about hiring 4 wheel drives. It is well worth making it a round trip through the national park onto Baffle Creek and returning through the Agnes Water Hinterland. There are a number of smaller national parks surrounding Agnes Water which offer plenty of options for bushwalkers. 8. Learn to scuba dive. There are two companies in town that offer scuba dive courses. They both offer outer reef dives and also shore based dives. Agnes Water is the closest mainland point from which to explore the beauty of the Southern Great Barrier Reef. 9. Hire a tinny and catch a feed. Hire tinnies are available from 1770 to fish the local protected waterways. The local waterways surrounding 1770 offer a variety of fishing options. The local creek offers everything from whiting and flathead to mangrove jack and barramundi. Prefer to fish from the shore Just ask your friendly reception staff for the best fishing spots. 10. Visit the Museum Agnes Water Museum contains an interesting display highlighting the history of the area right from the time Captain Cook landed at 1770 until recent history.

Travel Directions

Once you come over the hill into Agnes Water you will be able to see a three story building from there which is the resort. Continue straight ahead past the service station, take second right into Agnes Street and we are on the left.
