Canberra Outdoors
While Canberra might be better known for action of the verbal kind, there are plenty of options for people who like to get physical. Nearly half of the ACT is parkland or bushland and our sunny skies are an invitation to get out of doors. Whether you want to pursue your favourite sport or try something new and adventurous, the Canberra Visitor's Centre can help you with information and contact numbers.
White water rafting is a popular outdoor activity whether you choose a beginner's trip or opt for the Grade 4 rapids during the spring snow-melt. Riding is also a very accessible sport in Canberra as is cycling, rockclimbing and bushwalking through the Canberra Nature Park. Other options include golf, forest bob-sledding, ballooning with flights available all year round and swimming in the aquatic centres or the natural beaches along the Murrumbidgee River.
